LES GRANDS CHAIS MONÉGASQUES

S.A.M. SOMODIVAL

It was at the very beginning of the 1900s that Mr Ginocchio, a Monegasque merchant, decided to set up a wine business, 100 metres or so from where the Port of Monaco, which at that time had a trading quay, was due to be built. Awarded the Gold Medal at the 1909 International Exposition in Paris, the wine business underwent a remarkable expansion and in 1943, became a limited liability company known as Les Grands Chais Franco-Monégasques, contributing to the growth in the trade of French wines. The 1980s saw the arrival of new management at the company, who decided to take a chance on modernising this long-standing business, while respecting its heritage. The aim was to adapt to market demands, anticipating the needs of the future. With the oldest cellar in the Principality of Monaco, we currently sell our wines in the most prestigious establishments, and offer the widest selection of fine wines and rare spirits, from the largest producers to small winemakers who grow their own crops. We also sell a small number of very high-quality delicatessen products. In 2014, we demonstrated our commitment to the local area with our new brand, Les Grands Chais Monégasques. We decided to offer our customers the benefit of our vast experience, by providing advice and helping them to improve their knowledge of wine through our wine events and private tastings. To accomplish this, we substantially refurbished our wine cellars to make them more welcoming while retaining the soul and authentic spirit of this magical and unique location in the Principality of Monaco, which is worth a visit in itself... Always seeking to maintain tradition... Les Grands Chais Monégasques
